Nonsoliton Pulse Evolution in Normally Dispersive Bers

چکیده
For a typical NRZ pulse propagating in existing normally dispersive bers, we provide a uniform description of the optical transmission. There are three distinct regimes of the governing nonlinear Schrr odinger equation: the fully nonlinear dispersive regime (ND), which covers a small region of the pulse; and two limiting asymptotic regimes-nonlinear, weakly dispersive (ZD) (for the bulk of the pulse), and linear dispersive (LD) (for the tails). For prediction of pulse degradation, the asymptotic regimes admit accurate, simpliied models for both nonlinear dispersive pulse spreading and the onset of optical shocks and oscillations at the fronts.

Weakly dispersive modal pulse propagation in the North Pacific Ocean.
The propagation of weakly dispersive modal pulses is investigated using data collected during the 2004 long-range ocean acoustic propagation experiment (LOAPEX). Weakly dispersive modal pulses are characterized by weak dispersion- and scattering-induced pulse broadening; such modal pulses experience minimal propagation-induced distortion and are thus well suited to communications applications. ...
متن کاملDual-pump frequency comb generation in normally dispersive optical fibers
We show that tunable frequency combs can be generated by launching two continuous-wave pumps at slightly different wavelengths into a normally dispersive optical fiber. The dual-pump configuration allows the tuning of comb spacing into the terahertz regime. Different pump powers and frequency separations are explored numerically to determine the effect of the input parameters on frequency comb ...

متن کاملGeneration of 20-GHz picosecond pulse trains in the normal and anomalous dispersion regimes of optical fibers
In this paper, we numerically and experimentally study two methods to generate 20GHz pulse trains at 1550 nm from a dual-frequency beat-signal. The first method is based on the multiple four-wave mixing temporal compression occuring in the anomalous dispersion regime of a standard optical fiber (SMF). In the second original method, the initial sinusoidal signal is first converted into a parabol...
متن کاملPropagation of the main signal in a dispersive
Evolution of the main signal in a Lorentz dispersive medium is considered. The signal propagating in the medium is excited by a sine-modulated pulse signal, with its envelope described by a hyperbolic tangent function. Both uniform and non-uniform asymptotic representations for the signal are found. It is shown when the uniform representation can be reduced to the non-uniform one. The results o...
